A 22-year-old woman, identified as Okafor Sharon, was on Thursday arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court for allegedly causing grievous harm on a sales attendant in Lagos state.
The prosecuting officer, O. Balogun, told the court that Sharon unlawfully assaulted the complainant, simply identified as Comfort, with a breakable plate and injured her on the face following a disagreement over payment for drinks and N400 fried meat at a bar in Lekki Phase One, in Eti Osa Local Government Area.
The victim had served Sharon who ordered for drinks and N400 fried meat.
The suspect, a second-hand cloth dealer, was at the bar in the company of a man, simply identified as Kingsley.
The sales attendant, afterwards, demanded for payment as she was about to retire for the day and needed to tidy up sales book for the day.
Sharon was said to have ignored the victim, insisting that Kingsley would only pay when they were done.
Comfort, however, tried to take back the drinks when Sharon threw a plate at her which damaged her face.
The prosecutor noted that the accused, who was arraigned on one count bordering on the offence and accused of unlawfully causing the victim grievous bodily harm, contravened Section 243 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Vol. 44, No. 2, 2011.
The accused person however pleaded not guilty.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs. A.T. Omoyele, adjourned the case till September 16 for mention.

Two suspected fake soldiers who allegedly abducted and rape 15-year-old girl, left by the roadside in Oworonshoki area of Lagos State have been arrested.
According to a popular daily, the suspects – Damilola Balogun and Joseph Agbo allegedly raped the teenager till daybreak.
A police source in Owoshonki Police said: “The victim came to report the matter at the station. She was on an errand along Akerele Street in Oworonshoki when the men, who wore army camouflage, accosted her.
“Before she could cry for help, they had forcefully whisked her away on a motorcycle to Muritala bus stop where she was raped till daybreak. They threatened to kill her if she shouted. They later released her in the early hours of the second day.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said four Automated Teller Machine cards and 17 identity cards were recovered from the suspects.
She said, “The police recovered items which included military camouflage, two berets, two mobile phones, four ATM cards from different banks, and 17 ID cards bearing different names. After interrogation, it was discovered that the suspects were impersonators.
“They are also suspected to be hoodlums terrorizing the area. The suspects will be transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for further investigation and prosecution.”

A 52-year-old Zambian woman identified as Banda Yvonne, has openly confessed to having sexual intercourse with her son (who is 35 years this year) in order to maintain his riches. She gave birth to him when she was 17.

She disclosed that she has had sex with her son, identified only as Abel every Wednesday for the past 14 years (when he was 21), and the day she stops, the boy will lose his wealth and die mysteriously.

Yvonne, a native of Ndola confessed to ZambiaWatchDog that she is the main pillar of her son’s success by offering her unclothedness to him once a week as instructed by the witch doctor he got his riches from.

She was said to have once confessed in church and the pastor of Great Kingdom Church, Zambia, reportedly prayed for her.

But despite the confession and for fear that her son will suffer and die painfully, she reportedly went back to being the keeper of his riches and continued with the sexual relationship with her son.

Confessing to the newspaper, she said, “I have been sleeping with my son, Abel since 2002 when he started his transportation business which has grown tremendously and he now owns a fleet of trucks, buses and other small cars.

“We have sex every Wednesday and we do it at my house where the charm was buried.”

According to Yvonne, “the price is that, once I stop sleeping with him, all our hard earned wealth will vanish in thin air and my son will die a very painful death.”

Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung and other top government officials were absent in the funeral of later Super Eaglesgreat, Stephen Keshi.

Funeral of the late Keshi kicked off in Benin with a church service at St’ Paul Catholic Church, Benin City on Thursday, July 28.

After the church service, a novelty match organised by Austin Eguavoen held at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin which was followed by his body lying in state for fans to pay their last respect.

Angry Crowd Beats Policeman To Coma For Killing Motorcyclist

A trigger-happy policeman, on Tuesday, killed a motorcyclist at the beach junction of Nsukka while trying to shoot into the air.

It was gathered that the policeman, whose identity was not released to the media, is attached to the Nsukka Building Material Taskforce set up by the Nsukka Local Government Transitional Committee Chairman, Rose Onah.

A witness said the taskforce numbering eight with four policemen were trying to compel a cement dealer to pay a fine for refusing to move to the building material permanent site.

“The pleading by the cement dealer attracted sympathy from people in the area who joined in begging the taskforce members to leave the man alone but they refused,” the witness said.

According to him, when the policemen saw the number of people closing up on them, they began to shoot into the air to scare people away.

One of the policemen, while trying to raise his riffle up lost control and shot a motorcyclist who was just coming out from a nearby restaurant after eating.

Premium times learnt that the killing sparked a demonstration, with the people of the area pouncing on the policeman that shot the man.

The operative was beaten to coma before a team of policemen from Nsukka police station arrived the scene. The team scared off the crowd, evacuated the dead motorcyclist and the wounded policeman.

When contacted, the chairman of Nsukka LGA, Rose Onah, said she had heard what happened but was yet to be fully briefed on the incident.

Court Remands Teacher For Raping Student In School Office

A 33-year-old teacher of Government Girls Secondary School, Minna, identified as Abdullahi Shaba, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly raping a 16-year-old SS2 female student.

According to the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Niger State, ASP Bala Elkana, the matter was in court and the suspect had been remanded in prison custody.

The PPRO noted that the teacher, who is married with three daughters, admitted having canal knowledge of the student but denied forcing her when she requested N100 from her as transport fare.

 
It all started when the teacher invited the victim to one of the offices, saying he had a message to deliver to her. “On entering the office, the teacher sat close to her and asked whether she had a boyfriend, to which she replied in the negative and thereafter the teacher started touching her to the extent that he removed her underwear and had s3xual intercourse with the female student,” the PPRO narrated.

 
After, the girl came out weeping and drew the attention of her friends to whom she narrated the incident while the case was reported to the vice principal of the school.

ONYEKACHI Anele, 36, is probably gnashing his teeth in regret, in the custody of the police at the headquarters of the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, of the Imo Police Command, Owerri.

As he ponders over what the future holds for his four-year-old daughter and one-year-old son and the stepson who is at the centre of the fate that has befallen the family, he is equally learning, in a hard and unfortunate way, the meaning of what the bible says: “The devil goes about like a roaring lion seeking who it may devour.”

Anele who lived with his family in Obibiezena in Owerri North Local Government Area, is also wishing that he had restrained himself when the devil pushed his wife to stir up anger in him, not long after he returned home from vigil held at Jesus Disciples Fellowship.

Sunday Sun learnt from the Imo Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu that trouble began on June 1, 2016, when Anele’s wife, 32-year-old Chikodi, asked him to give her son from an earlier marriage, N100 to take to school.

Taking up the tale, Anele said: “I got married to my late wife Chikodi Anele over four years ago.

She had a son for another man before we got married. We have been living together in peace. We have two children. Our first child, a girl, is four years old while the second child is a boy, who is just one year old.”

He continued: “On May 31, 2016, I went to my church, Jesus Disciples Fellowship, where we had a vigil.

I came back around 5: 30 am and started playing Christian music. My wife came to where I was and said that I should give my stepson N100 naira to go to school. I told her that I had no money with me.

“You see, my late wife was hypertensive; she became very angry that I did not give my stepson N100. She started to insult me. I got angry and slapped her.

She slapped me in return. I was shocked by her effrontery and slapped her a second time. She fell down and fainted.

“I rushed her to City Hospital, Nekede. On getting there, the doctor checked her and confirmed that she was dead.

I went to the nearby police station at Umuguma and reported the matter to the police and they arrested me,” he said.

Promptly, the case was transferred from Umuguma Police Station to State Criminal Investigation Department, Owerri, the Imo State capital, where he has been in detention as investigation into the matter was in progress.

The officer-in-charge of the homicide section of the SCID, Supol Innocent Obi, further revealed that family members of the deceased had not yet been to the police to know the state of the matter. He stated that Anele had not yet informed them.

In anguish, Anele, told Sunday Sun: “I love my wife. I had no intention to kill her. It was misunderstanding and annoyance that prompted me to slap her and she died. Up till now, it looks like a dream and a mystery to me.

When Sunday Sun visited the compound where Anele lived with his family before the unfortunate incident happened, his neighbours were still in shock.

One of them, Chukudi Eneka said, “They both loved each other; they were a good family.

The devil just caused this thing. Suddenly we heard them quarrelling. The husband slapped the wife and the wife slapped him back. The husband then slapped her again. She fell down and fainted. We thought it was a joke.

When she was taken to the hospital, the doctor said she was dead. We are shocked over the incident.”

In what appears like a case of Anele being abandoned to his fate, the Deputy Commissioner of Po­lice in-charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa said that the kinsmen of Anele had not been to see him in the custody of the police, but adding that the corpse of the deceased was still in mortuary.

BREAKING NEWS!! Former Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi Is Dead

Nigerian football icon Stephen Okechukwu Keshi died suddenly in the early hours of Wednesday in Benin City, Edo state, MooreVibe was briefed.
The former international football player and coach had lost his wife of 33 years, Kate, last year after a prolonged battle with cancer.
MV confirmed his death from a member of his family as well as one of his close associates.
“He was not ill at all, never showed any signs of illness, but we suspect he never got over the death of his wife,” a friend said.
He is survived by four children and his mother.
Keshi, the only Nigerian coach to have won the Africa Cup of Nations, achieved a rare feat in 2013 by becoming only the second person to win the trophy both as a player and a coach.
The only other person to have achieved the feat is Egypt’s Mahmoud El-Gohary.
Keshi, a product of St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Lagos, started his playing career at a very young age at ACB Football Club, and later played for New Nigeria Bank, Stade d’Abidjan, Africa Sports, Lokeren, Anderlecht, RC Strasbourg, and a host of other clubs.
He represented Nigeria from 1982, at age 20, till 1994, most of the time captaining the Super Eagles and scoring vital goals from his position as a central defender.
He also coached Togo and Nigeria at the World Cup, as well as Mali.
Keshi, nicknamed the “Big Boss” for his leadership skills, is the fifth member of the all-conquering 1994 team to die, following Uche Okafor, Thompson Oliha, Rashidi Yekini and Wilfred Agbonavbare.

High-tension Wire Kills School-leaver, Injures Landlord

Tragedy struck on Fagbeyiro Street in the Alakuko area of Lagos State after a high-tension wire fell on a 14-year-old girl, Deborah Faleke, who was electrocuted.

Our correspondent learnt that Deborah, who had come to stay briefly with her elder sister, Bukola Ogunbajo, on the street, just left secondary school, having finished sitting for 2016/2017 West African Senior School Certificate Examination about three weeks ago.

We learnt that the wire – which belonged to the Ikeja Electric – fell on the girl immediately electricity was restored to the area around 10am on Saturday.

It was gathered that Deborah was at the gate of the apartment when the wire fell on her head and also injured a landlord in the area, whose name had yet to be ascertained.

Our correspondent learnt that the victim’s elder sister, Ogunbajo, and neighbours rushed Deborah to a hospital, but she was rejected. She was rushed to another hospital, where she was confirmed dead.

It was gathered that the incident was reported at the Alakuko Police Division.

We also learnt that some Ikeja Electric officials also visited the street on Saturday to reconnect the damaged high-tension wire, promising Ogunbajo’s landlord, identified only as Ogudugu, and the deceased’s family that a meeting would be held with them.

When our correspondent visited the area on Thursday, Deborah’s father, Pastor Ademola Faleke, who lived on Ilupeju Street, said Deborah was his last child.

He said, “On Friday, I went out of Lagos State for a ministration. So, the girl went to stay with her eldest sister on Fagbeyiro Street. That was not her first time.

“I was at Iyana-Ipaja on Saturday on my way back when I was called on the telephone and told about the incident. There was no rainfall. Deborah was not sent on any errand. She was just passing through the gate when the wire fell on her. The marks on her body showed that the wire fell on her head.

“She was rushed to a hospital. The workers there said they did not have adequate equipment. So she was rushed to a second private hospital on Adegbola Street, where she later died. The doctor issued a death certificate to us.

“She just finished secondary school; she was also my interpreter. She was very active in church. I want the electricity distribution company to at least show some concern. My daughter, who is my joy, has been taken away by a careless electrical connection.”

Speaking with PUNCH Metro, the landlord, Ogudugu, said the Ikeja Electric officials promised to come on Thursday to hold talks with him.

He said, “There was a wooden hanger that connected the three high-tension wires. When electricity was restored that day, the wood caught fire and one of the wires snapped and fell. There was confusion in the whole area on Saturday. The officials promised to visit my house around 1pm today (Thursday). I am still waiting to receive them.”

A resident of the area, who gave his name only as Olusola, said, “A landlord was injured. He is still being treated in a hospital. Nobody could move near the girl for fear of being electrocuted.

“I want to enjoin the electricity distribution companies that any high-tension wire passing through a community should be placed on a suspended hanger so that if any of them breaks, it will not fall on people.”

The Lagos State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Damasus Ozoani, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The police received the report of the electrocution. The high-tension wire cut off on the street and fell on the girl. Investigation is ongoing.”

The Head, Corporate Communications, Ikeja Electric, Felix Ofulue, had yet to reply to a text message sent to his mobile phone on the incident.

The Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood, has been thrown into another round of mourning as a popular Yoruba actor, Ajiboye Fatai Onibuade fondly called Legend has died.
According to reports, Ajiboye died in a hospital in Ikeja, Lagos State on May 17, 2016.
Legend reportedly collapsed in his living room before he was taken to hospital.
The role interpreter, who was an executive of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has since been buried according to Islamic injunctions.
He’s survived by a wife and kids.

Woman Dies After Husband Beat Her While Defending His Lover In Port Harcourt

A middle-aged man, Christopher Okon, an indigene of Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his wife and mother of his five children while defending his secret lover from the wife who intended the beat the intruder in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.

According Authority Newspaper, Okon who is a driver with a company in the Garden City, was in a secret relationship with the woman who is his neighbour at the Nanka Street, Mie 1, home, not know that his wife, Nsikak , had gotten wind of the illicit affair.

Trouble however started when the victim came back from the market where she hawks cooked food and discovered that her husband’s lover who is a single mother was feeding her children.

When Nsikak confronted her rival on the right she has in feeding her children when she had allegedly slept with her husband and hardly greets her, the woman took offence and called Okon on phone to tell him that his wife had insulted her.

It was further learnt that on receiving the call from his lover that his wife was threatening her, Okon quickly returned home and picked a quarrel with his wife. In the heat of the quarrel, Okon allegedly picked a stick and started beating his wife who was still breast feeding their last baby.

After the beating, Okon reportedly sent the woman and her daughter from her first marriage outside his apartment and locked the door with his five biological children within.

It was gathered that the woman who had been suffering from high blood pressure, fell down and collapsed.

All efforts by other neighbours to persuade Okon to take his wife to the hospital proved abortive, as he told them he did not care what happened to her. In the early hours of the following day, the neighbours noticed that the woman was not breathing anymore and they forced the door open and dragged him out to carry his dead wife.

He was thereafter handed over to the police.

SHOCKING: Father Caught Having Séx with His Mentally Disturbed Son

A Zimbabwean father has landed in trouble after he was caught sleeping with his mentally unbalanced son.

According to iMzansi, the man only identified as Mashudu (48) and his son, Zwanga (21) confessed they have been sleeping together since Mashdi’s wife (Zwanga’s mother) passed away in 2013.
Angry villagers demanded that the suspects be chased away from the village. The crowd was actually baying for the blood of the two, they wanted to necklace them. A scared Zwanga however said his father forced him to be intimate and at first he refused but his father threatened him with death. “I did not want to do it but he forced me into it” said Zwanga.
It was gathered that the son has a mental problem and sometimes walks around n*ked or ‘disappears from the house for days on end.
Confessing to the crime, Mashudu said he was instructed by a sangoma to sleep with his son in order to cure him of his mental state.

“The sangoma said I should sleep with my son and I wanted to see him get better so I obeyed. After his mother died I struggled to control him so I had to do whatever it took to heal him. We tried the prophets but they failed. Then we went to the sangoma. Each time we got intimate, he would actually get better.”
“He was no longer violent” Mashudu said.

Angry villagers had already torched the father and sons’ residence before police arrived and police eventually whisked them away to a safe place.

 

So Pathetic!!! Civil Servant Commits Suicide In Abia Over Unpaid Salaries

A civil servant with the Abia State ministry of lands and survey yesterday committed suicide over funds to purchase  uniforms demanded by the wife for women’ s day celebration of their church.

The deceased it was learnt, has not received his salaries for some months and was finding it difficult to meet his family’s monthly bills.

The civil servant identified only as Mr Nwakwo, who was  in his fifties  left a suicide  note in his  sitting room before his wife and his three children returned back from church.

The deceased, who hails from Ihe Ndume. community in Umuahia North local government and a father of four children; two in primary schools, while the remaining two are in secondary schools,  was said to have given excuses to the wife why he would not be going to church with them without indicating that he intended taking his life.

According to a family source who did not want his identity disclosed,the late civil servant before hanging himself often approached family members and some friends for financial assistance and raw food items to keep his family going

According to the source , ahead of yesterday’s  Mother’s Day,  the wife had asked her late husband for money to purchase the uniform clothes agreed by the women in the church to wear for the celebration, “I believe  his inability to foot the bill and other things may have resulted  in the man committing suicide,” he said.

A written note dropped by the deceased  which is now at the custody  of the police  in Ehimiri police station reads, “ I have no other place to go, no hope, nothing to give to my children  to eat and no salary  for the past four months, am sorry I have to do this.”

According  to a community leader, Eric Nkwokocha ,  the community felt bad with the demise of the community member.

He also  disclosed that the corpse has been deposited at the Federal Medical Center, Umuahia.

The 9th day of May 2016 will forever be a date that strikes fear in the hearts of criminals in Warri as a certain Emma B, 22, at the early hours of today met his waterloo as he was another jungle justice subject when an angry mob set him ablaze after he was accused of theft.

According to BTPpoliticsTaday reports, Emma B is popularly known to be a notorious thief who has been terrorising the community called “Marine quarters, Warri, Delta state. It was gathered that he was caught by a vigilante red handed in the early hours of today and considering the current economic hardship ravaging the nation, community members did not hesitate to maim him.



It was also gathered that the accused confessed to various heinous crimes including stabbing 9 people and killing 7 others.
