BUSTED!! Patience Jonathan Opens Up: “Frozen Account With $31.4m Belongs To Me”

Patience Jonatha
Former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, is claiming ownership of the $31.4 million involved in an alleged fraud case before a Federal High Court in Lagos.
Counsel to the first defendant in charge, with case number FHC/337C/16, Mr. Gboyega Oduwole, informed the court that Mrs. Jonathan filed a fundamental application against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), claiming ownership of the Millions of Dollars.
The EFCC had taken former presidential aide, Amajuoyi Azubike Briggs, former Skye Bank official, Damola Bolodeoku, Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited and Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited to court in an alleged $31.4 million fraud involving the companies without addresses.
Others also charged include Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited, Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited and Globus Integrated Services Limited.
According to an application filed on September 6, this year, with file number FHC/L/C5/1233/16, Mrs. Jonathan is asking the court to make an order for the enforcement of her fundamental rights, in terms of reliefs she sought, and naming as defendants, the EFCC and Skye Bank Plc.
The former first lady asked the court to make a declaration that the fund standing to the credit of four of the companies and an account in her own name in Skye Bank belonged to her.
She also asked the court to declare that the action of the respondents in placing a No Debit/Freezing Order on the said accounts without any order of a competent court of law or prior notice to her, to be in breach of her fundamental rights as contained in the constitution of Nigeria.

FG Reacts As Oil Marketers Demand Increase Of Petrol Price To N165

Petrol Filling Station

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reacted to pressure mounted by the marketers of petroleum product for an upward review in the pump price of the Premium Motor Spirit - petrol.
According to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, and the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Maikanti Baru, there was no immediate plan to increase the pump price of petrol.

When approached by newsmen to speak on the planned increase in petrol price, Baru, who declined to speak at length, said: “There is nothing like that.”
Also, Kachikwu, when approached for comment, revealed that there was no memo before the Federal Government asking for a review of the price.
The minister’s respond came against the backdrop of reports by some marketers that Nigerians should prepare for another increase in petrol prices due to the continued scarcity of foreign exchange to finance the importation of the product.
The oil marketers had last month griped that the free fall of the naira against the dollar had made it unprofitable for them to import petrol and sell at the current rate of N145 per litre.
A source, who seems to be familiar to the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, disclosed that N165 is the pump price that will cover the cost of forex required for fuel importation.
Another source – official of one of the marketers’ associations – said,
“Let the government do the needful. We have already said it before that the price is not sustainable. When they fixed that price, dollar was N280 – N285; now the dollar is almost N400 and they want us to bring in products and sell at N145. It is not possible.
“But right now, most of us are getting the product from the NNPC; that is why you still see that there is product everywhere. It is an indirect case of subsidy. It means the government is subsidising it through the NNPC and we are buying at local price. Had it been that we were the ones that sourced the foreign exchange, we can’t sell it at N145.”
The development is coming barely four months after the government increased petrol prices from N86 and N86.5 per litre to between N135 and N145 per litre.

He advised the president to step up to the plate and take charge of his administration.
According to Chary Boy, Buhari has displayed a lackadaisical interest in the wellbeing of the masses, who should be his main concern.
In his address to the president, the television personality wrote:
"I trust that this meets you well."
"I know it has not been easy since you came on board, so many wahalas, so much yawa, frustration and hopelessness."
"First rule of leadership: everything is your fault. Sir, Nigerians are surely dying and, quickly. They can no longer see the light, they feel the Heat."
"The welfare of the common man must be your top priority henceforth or God forbid, Nigeria and Nigerians will die in your hands."

Charly Boy had made a similar observation in one of his recent Instagram comments, where he told his followers that he is scared concerning the fate of the country.

Please Be Informed!!! There Is Hunger & Anger In The Land – Labour Tells Buhari

Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), has pleaded with the Federal Government to take urgent steps and pay thousands of civil servants their outstanding salaries and allowances, lamenting that the workers were hungry and passing through very hard times.
In a statement in Lagos, the association also contended that the payment of the salary arrears and allowances would also stimulate the economy.
ASCSN, in the statement by its Secretary-General, Alade Bashir Lawal, said:
“We believe that since these federal civil servants and their dependents live in different parts of the country, if these outstanding entitlements are paid to them, it will have positive ripple effects on the economy and douse the tension in the land.
“There is anger and hunger in the country and as a patriotic trade union organisation, we have decided to bring this situation to the notice of government so that it can take necessary measures to stem the tide by doing the needful.”
The ASCSN wondered why the Federal Government that doled out N713.7 billion to states to pay arrears of salaries and allowances to their workers, but refused to settle similar debt owed its own employees.
It said a bag of rice was now N20,000, more than the N18,000 monthly National Minimum Wage; a gallon of kerosene costs N1,200 from N400 a few months ago. ASCSN advised President Buhari not to allow the goodwill that brought him to power to be easily eroded, and so soon.

Boko Haram: US Secretary Of State, John Kerry, To Visit Nigeria Next Week

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Nigeria and Saudi Arabia next week to discuss regional issues, the State Department announced Thursday.
Kerry will first go to Nigeria and meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss the threat of terror group Boko Haram, spokesman John Kirby said.
Boko Haram, the group responsible for the kidnapping of nearly 300 girls from a school in Chibok in 2014, has killed at least 20,000 people in its 7-year uprising against the Nigerian government.
It surpassed Islamic State in 2014 to become the world’s deadliest terrorist group, according to the 2015 Global Terrorism Index, published by the Institute for Economics and Peace.
Kerry and Buhari also will discuss Nigeria’s economy and human rights issues.
Secretary Kerry then will travel on to Saudi Arabia where he will meet with Saudi and other Gulf state leaders to discuss the ongoing conflict in Yemen, Kirby said.
VOA’s Steve Herman contributed to this report.

Joining Politics Was To Expose How Politicians Manipulate The Society – Oshiomhole

Adams Oshiomole

Outgoing Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, on Wednesday revealed why he joined politics.
Speaking at an event, organised by the Kukah center: titled, “From activism to political power: the challenges of democratic governance in Nigeria,” the former President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, said he joined politics to understudy and expose how politicians manipulate and control societies.
According to Oshiomole, “I joined the ruling class, having been temporarily associated with them, for the purpose of studying them to know and expose the hidden things they use to manipulate and control societies.
“I will be able to say, you know, I know how what you did that time, how much you consumed.
On the issue of change promised by the current administration, the outgoing governor explained that it will take collaborative effort on the part of Nigerians.
“No one of us can change society through individual actions, because the order you seek to change is of ignorance but you need to appeal to it.
“Those gaining from the order cannot be sermonised but by engagement you may probably defeat them,” he added.

Minister of Information And Culture, Lai Mohammed Says Change Is "Already Here"

Minister of Information and Culture

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has said that the change promised by President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) “already here.”

While acknowledging the submissions of Nigerians that the present administration has failed on its promise to transform Nigeria, Mohammed said the change is real.
He stated this on Monday, August 1. at a town hall meeting in Enugu State.
According to the minister, part of the change is the prosecution of treasury looters and the entrenchment in public service.
“Many have said they are yet to see the change we promised. Many more have called the promise a ruse. In fact, they are now mocking us. But we remain undaunted because we know that the change we promised is real. In fact, the change we promised is already here, and it is manifesting all around us,” Mohammed said.
“Before now, public officials simply opened the public till, took as much money as they wanted and walked away without consequences. That explains why funds allocated to the military to fight Boko Haram ended up in the piggy banks of many unscrupulous Nigerians.
“Today, all those who looted the public treasury are being made to answer for their actions, as impunity gives way to accountability. Many have offered to return their loots, and many more are facing charges.”
On the diversification of the economy, Mohammed said that 70 percent of the N500 billion realised from the federal accounts allocation committee came from the non-oil sector.
He said: “We promised to diversify the economy away from oil, to ensure that other sectors are able to significantly contribute to sustainable development.
“In June 2016, for the very first time, about 70 per cent of the more than N500 billion raised from the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee came from the non-oil sector, while 30 per cent came from the oil sector."
Mohammed stressed that the month of June was the first time this year that the Federal Government shared more than N500 billion among the three tiers of government.

Battle Line! Sheriff, Metuh Storm Court Today To Stop PDP Convention

The Ali Modu Sheriff-faction of the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party is to appear before a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday (today) to argue its application for an interlocutory injunction seeking to stop the party from going ahead with its planned national convention scheduled to hold on August 17.
The nine plaintiffs said they filed the suit numbered FHC/ABJ/CS/464/2016 for themselves and on behalf of the Executive Committee/National Working Committee of the PDP.
They are Sheriff as the National Chairman; Prof. Wale Oladapo (National Secretary); Dennis Alonge-Niyi (Deputy National Youth Leader); Alhaji Bashir Maidugu (Deputy National Legal Advier); Mrs. Hanatu Ulam (Deputy National Women Leader); Alhaji Lawa Dutsima Anchi (Deputy National Auditor); Chief Okey Nnadozie (Deputy National Organising Secretary); and Chief Olia Metuh (National Publicity Secretary).
The suit has only the Independent National Electoral Commission and the PDP as the defendants.
The plaintiffs had filed the substantive suit on July 4, 2016, contending that that by virtue of the PDP’s Constitution, they must remain in office till 2018.
They urged the court to declare all moves aimed at removing, replacing or conducting fresh elections into their offices as illegal, unlawful, unconstitutional, null and void.
The Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of the party had on July 14 announced August 17 as the date for the party’s national convention when election would be held to fill the positions of national officers of the PDP.

Dogara In Trouble? Over 100 Reps Demand External Probe

Things are getting hotter! There seems to be no let up to the 2016 budget scandal rocking the House of Representatives.
113 members of the green chamber have joined the fray, that it is wrong for Speaker Yakubu Dogara to be using the House spokesman to defend himself, calling for “an external investigation with a view to finding out if our principal officers are guilty or not”.
Also on Wednesday, former Head of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon called for “stiff penalty” for anyone found guilty of the padding.
Recall that former Appropriations Committee chair, Abdulmumin Jibrin, blew the lid on the scandal following his removal last week.
He accused Dogara, Deputy Speaker Yusuff Lasun, Chief Whip Alhassan Ado Doguwa and Minority Leader Leo Ogor of appropriating to themselves N40b of the N100b meant for the 360 member.
Dogara asked  Jibrin to withdraw the allegation against him. He threatened to sue for defamation, if Jibrin failed to withdraw the claim.
Jibrin vowed not to retract the claim, daring Dogara to go to court.
Briefing reporters in Abuja, 113 representatives known as Transparency Group distanced themselves from Dogara. They asked Dogara, Lasun, Doguwa, Ogor to respond to the allegations as individuals.
Its spokesman Musa Soba (APC, Kaduna) said it was wrong for the Chairman, Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Abdulrazak Namdas to have claimed that the House was behind the Speaker on the issue.
The group wondered why the Speaker was shielding Jibrin before now.
Claiming that about 113 signatures were collected from lawmakers from the six geopolitical zones and across party lines before the last Sallah break, Soba said the intention was to compel the Speaker to explain the discrepancies in the budget.

Still On The Matter? Traditional Ruler Threatens To Sue Melaye Over His Verbal Attack On Oluremi Tinubu

A traditional ruler in Oyo state, the Atapa of Itapa Ijesa, Dr. Olapade Agoro, has threatened to file a lawsuit against Senator Dino Melaye over his verbal attack on Senator Remi Tinubu during the senate plenary early this month. Speaking to The Nation at his palace yesterday, Agoro who is a politician and religious leader said
“No wonder, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, without mincing words, told the whole world that the National Assembly is full of corrupt legislators. That was a weighty statement. When you say corruption, you are not limiting it to taking bribe.
It could be immoral. By what he did on the floor of the Senate, I will say Melaye has committed immorality. For this young man to have lost morality and commonsense on the floor of the hallowed chamber, to have threatened to beat up a woman, that was too much. You don’t say you want to beat up another man’s wife on the hallowed chamber; forget who the husband is. That issue is beyond political scene. It raises the question of morality. When a man says he will beat up another man’s wife and even impregnate her, it means the man has admitted to be a rapist. By now, the police should have stepped in. It’s a reckless and senseless vituperation that should be taken beyond the floor of the Senate. The young man has been so reckless ever since he became a senator. It shows how corrupt he is. I don’t know why that type of character should be allowed to continue staying in the Senate. The APC should have by now sanctioned him to protect the name of the party, not demanding an apology from him. I could have taken him court, if not for anything, because we don’t expect characters like him in the Senate. He should be made to face the music”‎.

These Are The 5 Things President Buhari Can Do To Regain The Trust Of Doubting Nigerians

Before the 2015 elections, President Muhammadu Buhari was touted as the messiah that will fix all Nigeria’s problems. He was repackaged and presented to Nigerians as the best invention since sliced bread.

Fast-forward to 2016 – Nigerians who voted for Buhari are now reawakening from the spell cast over them during the elections. There is widespread poverty in the land and the middle class may soon become extinct. As at June 2016, the President’s approval rating stood at 39 percent as against a very high rating of 80 per cent in October 2015. People want to see the President work for them. Here are 5 things President Buhari can do to endear himself to Nigerians one more time:

1. Cabinet reshuffle
The President’s cabinet is filled with professional politicians and not technocrats as expected; a little shake-up will really boost the President’s image. A lot of Nigerians will be happy to see him sack Minister of science and technology, minister of Agric, Minister of finance, Minister of interior, minister of education and his spokespersons. The President also needs to move a few others to ministries best suited for their skill set.

2. Visit the South-South and South East

Before the election, the President stunned Nigerians by dressing up in clothes depicting different Nigerian cultures. He did his best to show Nigerians that he wanted to be President of Nigeria and not President of his region. Today, the story is different. ‘’King of the North’’ – that is now one of President Buhari’s nickname. Some will argue that he is more sectional than any other President Nigeria ever had. What better way to shut up critics than to pay a visit to the South-South and South-East?

3. Commence distribution of N5,000 cash

Poor Nigerians expected Buhari to make their lives better but today they’re suffering the most. Parents now exchange their kids for bags of rice and cartons of noodles – the country is experiencing a technical recession. A lot of jobs have been lost and no new ones created. Nigerians all over are waiting to see President Buhari’s magic move that will end their sufferings. What move can be more magical than distributing free money that was promised during the elections? . Distribution of N5,000 to poor and vulnerable Nigerians may not solve every problem but it will sure help President Buhari regain the support of millions of Nigerians.

4. Focus on doing good rather than looking good
The Buhari administration has become one that is bent on looking good rather than doing good. We see more photos of the President doing mundane everyday things than we hear him speak. Nigerians want to see the President flag off new projects, they want to hear him roll out new policies and not pose for photos with newspapers.

5. Stop talking about the past

‘’Shut up and face front’’- is what President Buhari badly needs to hear from his advisers. Over one year into his term as President, Buhari is still talking about the previous administration. He has even managed to talk about the military coup that removed him from office in 1985. So far, Buhari has shown more interest in Nigeria’s past than her future. Young Nigerians do not want to hear the President talk about ‘what was’, they want to hear him talk about ‘what will be’.

--------------

No Presidency is perfect but President Buhari can do better. If Nigeria must make progress under Buhari, then the President must up his game.

We can only see the loopholes, while its left for the FG and its cabinet to look into this and do the needful.
Let's keep praying, hoping and continuing with our handiwork. The best is yet to come in our country - Nigeria

Father Mbaka Unveils Shocking Revelation About Buhari’s Health

Enugu-based controversial Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari’s chances of making full recovery from his ‘ailment’ is slim.
Mbaka made this assertion during one of his adoration programme, adding that several efforts to reach the President in order to relay his vision have proved abortive.
He stated that some people want Buhari dead, he, however, said that with prayers of the members of his congregation, Buhari would be healed.
Fr. Mbaka said: “His health was in a bad shape and he was asking that (Fr Mbaka) should pray for him. None among the people I have called, picked my calls.
“People think I speak with Buhari everyday. When people climb into power, they are dazed. It is a long dream. Our job is to pray for him but there are things that he must do and there is no way to communicate it to him”.
The President is currently on a medical vacation in London, United Kingdom and expected back in the country on Sunday, June 19.

Before They Mislead President Buhari: Dele Momodu

Fellow Nigerians, let me say categorically and emphatically that our dear beloved country is dangerously haemorrhaging again and this perfidious drift must be halted urgently before we all end up in perdition. Anyone telling President Muhammadu Buhari that all is well or that his government is moving in the right direction is either lying or pretending like a rattlesnake. And there are many scorpions around ready to mislead every government and move on effortlessly when things fall apart. For sure President Buhari possesses the ability to move this country in the right direction and lead us to where we want to be but right now it is not happening and the soul of the people palpitates! I’ve been on several television and radio interviews in the past one week and the commonest question is on the performance of our President. The general perception is that the change mantra seems not to be working and the world is worried because of the importance of Nigeria in the comity of nations.

I hope our President will get to see this piece, read it and ruminate on the points I will raise. The Buhari government has lost a substantial equity in just one year as I will try to explain in the next few paragraphs. It must be noted that Nigerians were happy with the election that ushered in President Buhari. Even those who did not vote for him accepted him with unusual equanimity. Those we expected to fight and throw tantrums simply vamoosed into their bunkers. The expectations were high then but I doubt if enough effort was put into seizing the momentum and translating it into a mass movement that would have stood the test of time. It is not too late to reclaim the moment.

The faith Nigerians had in the abilities and incorruptibility of Buhari is mighty enough to move mountains. But unfortunately, I think the government took many things for granted once it took over the reins of power. The government mistakenly believed that the support of the people was like several blank cheques which it could cash at any point in time. The general impatience of Nigerians and their desire for progressive action were never put into consideration. I remember writing two memos to our President in quick successions, when I realised that Nigerians were getting restless and restive, one of which was the desperate memo that earned me an invitation to the Presidential Villa for which I am so honoured and proud.

Still the government did not respond appropriately to the yearnings of the populace. The major problem is that the priorities of Buhari were never palpable to the general public as everything seemed to operate in utmost secrecy. This is probably a relic of the military days when surprise and spontaneity achieved more. However, democracy is an open book and it has become even more so since the internet turned the world into a global information minefield. I’m sure it was assumed that the people would never doubt or query the sincerity of a messiah. So there was no need to provide any real information about the activities of government. That was the first fallacy.

The second fallacy is that people would give the President plenty of time to unfold his change agenda. One year on, it is obvious that this has not been the case. President Buhari should have moved faster once the people started grumbling about the apparent sluggishness of his administration. The selection of his cabinet was annoyingly slow and by the time it eventually came it had evaporated into a deja vu. There was no element of surprise to elicit major excitement. In fact, most people wondered why it took so long to assemble his present team most of whom he could have picked in two weeks or even before he was sworn in. The demystification of Buhari became manifest from that moment not because the team he picked is not worthy or creditable but because the interminable delay in making the choices cost the nation dearly.

The next problem was that the President should have moved to unite and unify the country immediately. It was clear that the previous administrations had riven great division into the Nigerian polity. A new beginning seeking to heal the ulcerous, cancerous wounds of religious and ethnic disunity and disaffection was required. However, starting with a war of attrition, it was obvious our President would soon have his hands full. Not that some of the wars were unnecessary but the timing and methodology should have been meticulously weighed and analysed before launching into the requisite offensive. There was a lot to learn from our nascent democracy. It would have been easier to embark on some of these wars as a military ruler that the President formerly was but not as a civilian leader which the President now is. That realisation appears to have been missed by some of our President Buhari’s advisers.

For example, while the war against corruption was desperately urgent, it ought to have been known that it was intricately and delicately tied to the economy. The need to recover the looted funds as quickly as possible and use them to reinvigorate the economy needed to be balanced by the need to do so expeditiously and tactfully so that the main objective would be fulfilled. My humble opinion and advice would have been to use the carrot and stick method rather than the kill and go style that has now exposed our economy to grave danger and imminent collapse. The angry mob of Nigerians goading on our President has blatantly refused to assimilate the magnitude of the resultant repercussions. But it should be noted that those who feel frustrated about a rotten system can never be bothered if the entire structure collapses. It is such acute disillusionment that gave rise to the ascendancy of a Donald Trump in America. It is the duty and responsibility of leadership to wear its thinking cap well and rise above the giddiness of the baying crowd who have nothing to lose and only wish to see the spectacle of blood flowing without any degree of humanity or compassion for the impoverished masses that they claim to represent. The same people who hailed Buhari yesterday are the ones denigrating him today.

Once it was impossible to generalise the war against corruption to engulf all politicians tainted with corruption no matter their affiliation the government should have requested for a blanket return of government booty via negotiation with all public office holders. Those who failed to take up this generous offer of recovery could then be visited with the might and power of retributive justice. An example of when this great opportunity was missed was when government unreasonably told Nigerians they could no longer pay foreign currencies in cash into their accounts. Perhaps government in its naivety did not remember that politicians had prosecuted the last election through the almighty dollar because it reduced the bulkiness of gratifications. Government should have patiently waited for the dollars to come in, whether in cash or not, before pouncing on the owners. Once that opportunity was missed, the next was to discreetly stretch its tentacles across the world in search of thieves and money launderers. Assets at home and abroad should have been quietly traced for possible confiscation. This could have been done without all the present grandstanding and hullabaloo. When you hear the elephant stomping the ground behind you in a one directional manner, you know it is time to run and hide. In this period when we are celebrating the life and times of Mohammed Ali perhaps it is poignant to say that you do not telegraph your punches rather you “rope a dope”!

Also, the moment our President chose a military style of operation he should have known that corruption would fight back with ferocity and velocity. For example, once it seemed the former President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan had been marked for humiliation even demolition, I knew our President was playing with the tiger’s tail and I sounded my note of warning. Before we could say Jack Robinson, the Niger Delta avengers returned with a vengeance and brought us back to our knees. Today our oil production has plunged to an all-time low even when we had been grappling with the nightmare of low crude oil prices. The Niger Delta Avengers army seems ready to make Boko Haram look like child’s play as they strangulate the economy, degrade the environment and decimate the local population that they claim to be fighting for. Is this what we need to add to our plethora of problems at this time? The answer is a big NO.

The militarisation of Nigeria has become very suffocating. Shiites are being killed in droves in the North West. Mass graves have been identified and uncovered. The Biafra agitators are being massacred in broad-day light and its leaders detained indefinitely. Boko Haram remains a monumental menace to society despite the extra-ordinary efforts of our military and Intelligence agencies. The Fulani and or Libyan herdsmen have added to the conundrum out of the blues. Different militant groups are now armed to the teeth. Trust me these guys don’t look like they are joking. Nobody fights on as many fronts as this government now seems to be fighting without risking it all.

Many have argued that Nigeria should be restructured. It is believed that its present configuration is too artificial. Most of the States are no longer viable while some fringe or full-blown eccentrics are asking for more. It is interesting that in the build up to independence our leaders from the North, Southwest and East were saying the same thing in different words. Nigeria is peopled by diverse nationalities and any nation must recognise this diversity and give it voice and room to flourish. A continuous denial of this fact can only lead to self-destruction. One of our erstwhile leaders in his wisdom foisted unitary system on us when we had successfully thrived under true federalism. That was a mark of courage notwithstanding that it was a totally flawed decision. Our President must find a similar kind of courage to find and examine all the previous recommendations made during different and various constitutional conferences and implement the universal clamour for true federalism. There is nothing new under the sun, as they say, our President already has a rich reservoir of knowledge deposited in some government archives to reach the best decision and modality that will achieve this end. My simple solution, Nigeria must return to and embrace and practise true Federalism. Not doing so is like pushing our luck too far and postponing doomsday.

What is of utmost importance in calling for a political configuration that will meet the yearnings of our people is the state of the economy. My submission is that the economy will never recover in an atmosphere of tension, uncertainty and panic. The Federal Government needs to tone down the negative rhetoric about our country. That unfortunate moniker of a corrupt nation that has been hung round our necks is dragging us down and denying Nigeria the investment in its future that it requires. Our President must make it clear that he is not the only saint in Nigeria but that the majority of Nigerians are saints and he is the leader who epitomises that. This is why he was chosen by the majority of good and well-meaning Nigerians who want someone that would demonstrate to the world that the generality of Nigerians are decent, hardworking and honest and that it is a small minority of Nigerians that are crooks. We must begin to walk away from our ugly past and work assiduously for a beautiful future.

Every nation has lived through its terrible moments but none ever cuddled the past forever as we now seem to be doing. Nigeria is richly blessed with human and natural resources. There is always a new dawn tomorrow and we must get ready for it, embrace it and by so doing seize the initiative. There would always be criminals in every society but we must never allow them to steal our future or still dominate our narrative when we have so many great men and women we can be proud of. Fortunately, we have a President that stands head and shoulders above all else and he clearly leads the way. He must now show it by moving at the fast pace that his country desires, nay demands!

Replace Fashola As Power Minister, Shehu Sani Tells FG

Senator Representing Kaduna Central at the upper Chamber, Shehu Sani has called on the Federal Government to replace the Minister of Power Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN).
Shehu Sani on his social media accounts on Saturday stated that the country need “one who has nothing else to do or to think about but concentrate on issue of Power”.
He wrote: “We need a Minister of Power; One who has nothing else to do or to think about but concentrate on issue of Power; We hitherto often lived in the dark, now we perpetuate in it. Light is now luxury, luxury is now light. With the Privatization of power, We moved from the darkness of a tunnel to that of a cave. We moved from power epilepsy to power paralysis”.
Fashola who is the Minister of Power, Works and Housing had said that he was not overwhelmed running the affairs of the three key infrastructure providing ministries.
He stated this at the inauguraul edition of `Buharimeter’, town hall meeting organised by the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD).
The Former Governor said the ministries was not bigger than Lagos state which he successfully governed for eight years.
He had said: “In terms of the size of my ministry, I don’t think it is bigger than the ministries that I have superintended before. I am very grounded on that level. There are almost 30 ministries in Lagos and about 57 parastatals, and I was involved on a day-to-day basis.
“What is different this time is that I am working with a team that I have just met, so and it is taking time to understand everybody. We are having regular meetings. I need to know everybody on beat by name and by face. It’s like playing football, and you don’t know your teammate and you want him to pass, you’ll say ‘O boy pass’, but after a while you know each other by name and you will bond better.
“Also, knowing the assets I am managing, visiting the sites, the power plants, touring the roads by driving rather than flying, and that’s taking some time. I have seen all of it on paper and I don’t think that it is something that has overwhelmed me.
“I have a minister of state who is assisting me. I have a permanent secretary in charge of power, and I have a permanent secretary who is overseeing works and housing because we are in the same place, and I have very, very competent staff.”
